CWM Automation are getting ready to ship another filling machine over to one of our US customers. This time, we designed and built 3-head rotary starwheel filling and closing machine, suitable for filling frosting at speeds of up to 75 cups/minute.
Our customer, who manufactures confectionary items such as frosting, royal icing and other candy fillings, was seeking a reliable solution that would significantly increase productivity.
Job Specification
This particular project consists of a through conveyer, which transports the containers to the infeed system and sweeps them into the starwheel. The starwheel is rotated via a servo drive unit to allow for ultimate control of the movement of cups. A 3-head servo driven filler unit pumps frosting into the containers through 3 positive shut-off nozzles. A fill lift unit with vac assist ensures that containers are held correctly for accurate and level filling.
Once filled, cups arrive at the foil dispense station, where foils are picked and placed using vacuum and then spot sealed in place. They are then transported to the heat seal assembly to be sealed by pneumatically-operated heater heads. A gas flush manifold enables an inert gas to be injected prior to sealing.
Filled and sealed cups will be swept out of the starwheel and onto a through conveyer. A bowl feeder orientates and feeds caps down to the line ready for them to be placed onto cups.
